Jazz and Drugs: The Romance

May 8, 2010, 2pm - 4pm

This event is a lecture on the history of the frequent working relationship between jazz musicians and drug abuse and addiction. The lecture event will compliment Target America: Opening Eyes to the Damage Drugs Cause exhibit by examining the costs drugs have played to the music community and jazz music.

Homeland Security post 9/11

September 11, 2010, 2pm - 4pm

This event is a lecture on the changes made in homeland security after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The lecture event will compliment Target America: Opening Eyes to the Damage Drugs Cause exhibit by exploring such themes as border patrol, terrorist attack preparedness and response, intelligence, and transportation security in the national and local arena.

Guns of the DEA

October 16, 2010, 2pm - 4pm

This event is a lecture and showcase of the weapons used by national and the New Orleans Field Division Drug Enforcement Administration agents to combat drug trade in the Gulf and abroad. The program will compliment the Target America: Opening Eyes to the Damage Drugs Cause exhibit by highlighting we apons used during enforcement operations and weapons encountered during a drug arrest utilized by cartels, domestic drug trafficking organizations, and narco-terrorists.

Special afternoon of family fun at the Old U. S. Mint. Featuring museum exploration, scavenger hunts and arts & crafts.
